SYNOPSIS
A trio of friends are dragged into the demon-hunting world after a friends gruesome death that the blind lead believes she could have prevented. As they grow more confident in their ability to stop evil they learn that they are being followed by another demon. The blind lead finds out that this demon, The Mimic, is the one to cause the friends death and has also kidnapped her two best friends to lure her into a trap so he can kill her.
Told as a supernatural horror with moments of gritty humour and deep friendship, the series follows a procedural “monster of the week” format, drawing on creatures from Hindu culture and building toward a season-long battle with a powerful enemy, The Mimic. Across the season, Abs struggles with the moral cost of using her friends to fight — and the fear of losing them forever. In the climax, her worst fear comes true: Kathy and Frank are taken, forcing Abs to face the final, most dangerous demon entirely alone. She frees them in time for the three to take down the season’s strongest threat, beaten but unbroken, ending their ordeal with quiet camaraderie on a dawn-lit Manchester street.
With its grounded Northern grit, rich mythology, and emotional character arcs, the series is designed as a long-running supernatural adventure with the potential for multiple seasons, while also working as a satisfying limited-series run.
Series
Series Arc Season one follows Abs, a blind woman destined to become the next blind-seer, as she grapples with the moral weight of her calling. Every hunt forces her to choose between protecting her friends or using them to fight: a choice made harder by the evil growing stronger each week. Over the course of the season, Abs evolves from an uncertain, reluctant fighter into a leader who accepts that her friends are not just her support, but her equals in the fight. All the while, unknown to her, she is being hunted by an ancient Rakshasa called 'The Mimic' who wishes to kill her but cant until she attacks first, his plan is to threaten or kill her friends until she attacks.
Episodic Structure The series blends a procedural “monster of the week” format with a serialized emotional arc. Each episode features a creature rooted in Hindu mythology connected with locations from Manchester and often tied to Manchester's own ghost stories, allowing for rich cultural variety and escalating danger. While the mythology deepens and the overarching threat looms larger, each episode delivers a self-contained hunt that explores different facets of Abs’ abilities, friendships, and the world’s Hindu lore.
Season One Ending As season one ends, the friends have been taken and voices mimicked, Abs has to defeat The Mimic on her own for the first time, free her friends, realising she needs their help, and they are in just as much danger if she stops demon hunting than if they helped guide her through buildings and put down sigils. They work together as a team, battling and stopping the strongest demon of the season.
The Mimic, "known in old texts as Svaramaya", is a high-level Rakshasa and the end antagonist of the season. He is created to wreak havoc and his curse (which are rules of how he is killed) is that a blind-seer must be the one to kill him and he cannot attack them until they attack him. The Mimic has been following Abs around for many years when word in another realm spoke about a possible blind-seer, he was also the one to kill her friend so she would go looking for him. The Mimic is targeting Abs like he has done with all blind-seers before her and he is working towards the same result, her death. Now it isn't a game of strength but of wit.
Once done, they find themselves sat on the curb in Northern Quarter ignoring the sun rising as they are zoned out and tired. Frank, from her wheelchair, breaks the silence with "Caf?" and with sounds of agreement, Abs and Kathy stand up, grab on to Frank's wheelchair, and Kathy pushes them out of shot as a Manchester band plays and the credits roll while still on the shot of the Northern Quarter.
Longevity / Potential The series is built for both a satisfying limited run and multi-season potential. The procedural format allows for fresh, weekly threats while expanding the mythology and personal stakes across seasons. With a structure similar to Supernatural’s long-running success, the show has the scope to explore global demon lore, deepen character relationships, and raise the stakes through increasingly personal and world-threatening arcs.

SETTINGS
The show is set in present-day Manchester City Centre, England and due to that there will be a lot of shots from the Northern Quarter and the artistic side of the city, the urban yet green Piccadilly Gardens, the vintage Victoria Station, the nightlife and neon of Deansgate, and the academic and artistic Oxford which all tie to the heart of who the characters are.
Some locations are specific for the episodes: Manchester Cathedral is known to have a demon dog, Kimpton Clocktower hotel is supposedly haunted with not only ghost children but a war widowed wife who repeatedly jumps from the clocktower, ghosts in one of the oldest pubs in Manchester — The Shakespeare Pub — and a historic Manchester Canal Pusher.

As the show is set in Manchester, and the characters are music fans, having the music be from artists that started out in Manchester would add to the setting and also the aesthetic of the show. Bands like Oasis, The Courteeners, Twisted Wheel, Elbow, The Charlatans, The Buzzcocks and The Smiths all originate in Manchester or got their start through the Manchester music scene which is incredibly popular and vital part of what Manchester is today.
There is a lack of visual proof of demons and mythical beings within the show, this not only shows the power they have and the magic "maya" they use, but allows a view of what Abs (the blind demon hunter) "sees". The lack of visible monsters also allows tension to rise easier with use of shadows and claw marks.
This also means mirror shots, sigils drawn on mirrors to see the demons, scenes in which characters have climbed on low level demons to stop them and seem to be floating in mid-air.
The subtitles were created as an idea to show what Abs would see while sensing monsters. Having wiggled lines show breathing patterns, having whispered words be smaller. Depicting the pacing by spreading the letters apart or making them closer together. Having wiggled lines around the outer edges of the screen to show a sense of unease or danger behind.
These subtitles for the majority would happen when the audience can see a black screen to not only visually show them what is happening in terms of what the protagonist sees but also so that people with hearing impairment do not miss any building of tension.
