Idea Breakdown
A rogue runs away from her abusive family, who had been cast out of the kingdom, after another dragon attack. With her hair shaved off and her rogue braids cut, she joins the guards of a local kingdom as a man. She quickly rises up in rank since growing up as a rogue meant running a lot as well as surviving only off of the land like hunting.
She is assigned the Prince's Guard as he leaves to stop the dragon that is causing chaos in his kingdom. As they spend time together through all the travel he finds out her secret. He also finds out that rogues do not kill without thanks, they thank everything they kill as a sign of respect. Thanking for food and warmth, thanking for bones to create arrows. It is against their culture to end a life for no reason. With this knowledge the prince asks her one question: What is your reason of thanks when we kill the dragon.
This story is about Sacrifice, Purpose, and Self-realisation after abuse.
